Marcus Evans recently held the 14th Annual Affordable Housing Projects on the 7th to 10th April 2025 at DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur. The conference aimed to provide a one stop platform for industry players; policymakers; developers; and financiers to gain insights on the latest innovations and opportunities in the housing market and explore solutions that drive the future of affordable housing. The four-day event saw over 90 delegates attending from 16 countries. The keynote address was delivered by Malaysia’s Minister of Housing and Local Government, YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming.
Mr Edmund Cheun, Head of Investment & Research at Maybank Ventures, was invited as a panel speaker and presented on the topic “The Role of Home Financing in Facilitating Home Ownership”. In his presentation, Edmund spoke of the challenges many Malaysians face on their journey to home ownership and how Maybank Islamic HouzKEY was introduced to the market in 2018 to enhance access to home ownership for aspiring home buyers. Being the first of its kind as a financing product based on the Shariah concept of Ijarah, HouzKEY has benefited over 6,000 Malaysians on their home ownership journey.
